Late Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia High School Association announced the new classifications for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years.
The GHSA is going back to six classes next year for the 457 member schools, while Class A will still be divided into the two divisions.
White County will remain in Class AAA, along most of the Hall County schools, and Dawson County, Lumpkin County, Pickens and Gilmer. WCHS, Dawson County and Lumpkin County are the three smallest schools among the 57 schools in Class AAA.
The new classifications are not final, as schools have a week to appeal their assignments. Following the appeals, the GHSA will place schools into regions.
