Fire stations for White County, Cleveland and Helen were dispatched to Yonah Burger just after 9 a.m. Sunday for reported smoke coming from the ceiling. After investigating the scene, it was believed the smoke was being generated from the HVAC system in the building, according to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy. The restaurant was allowed to reopen for business, and advised to have their system checked.

At 1:30 p.m., firefighters were summoned to a reported house fire at 70 Leatherford Road. The Cleveland Fire Department and county stations 2 and 4 were dispatched with assistance from Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade and support from the White County CERT REHAB Unit. The first unit on scene reported the residence was half engulfed in flames.

One minor burn to an occupant was treated on the scene by EMS, and a pet was lost in the fire, Murphy said. The American Red Cross was called to assist three people displaced from the home. The fire is under investigation.

Around 4 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 692 Allen Anderson Road for a reported structure fire. Firefighters found a fire in the carport area, which was quickly extinguished with no reported injuries, Murphy said. County stations 4 and 2, along with the Cleveland firefighters and the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade responded to the incident. The fire is under investigation.
