A two-vehicle wreck on Tuesday, Aug. 17, left one person seriously injured and seven with minor injuries.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Kasey Leeann Christopher, 39, of Cleveland, was driving a 1990 Lexus LS400 south on State Route 17 in Helen near Comer Circle. Christopher reportedly failed to maintain her lane while in a curve and entered the other lane, where she hit a 2014 Kia Sorento-SUV being driven by Zoey Abigail Thompson, 18, of Canon, head-on.

Christopher, the only occupant in the Lexus, was transported with serious injury. There were seven occupants in the SUV, and all were transported for minor injury, GSP said. Five people were taken to Habersham County Medical and three were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

GSP stated that Christopher was charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
