Unicoi’s new archery and air rifle range has public unveiling
A 15,000-square-foot Archery and Air Rifle Range at Unicoi State Park & Lodge is officially open to the public.
The new facility, showcased at a debut event this past Saturday, Nov. 4, features three practice ranges:
• A covered 10-lane air rifle range with target cables at a 10-meter distance.
• A 3D archery range that lets visitors take aim at an array of replica wildlife (and dinosaurs) from ground or a tower level.
• A static archery range with five covered lanes with different distances.
(Both the air rifle range and the static archery range are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible.
Visitors can use the ranges at a price of $5 per person for a day or an annual pass at $50 per person. Users can bring their own equipment. Air rifles of .22 caliber or lower are allowed on the range, while broadhead arrows or crossbows are prohibited.
On-site instructional classes are offered by certified archery and air rifle instructors. Guests may choose either an archery or air rifle two-hour class for $25, or a combined 3.5-hour class for $45. Classes include all necessary gear, a safety and informational overview and an open shooting session.
