BREAKING NEWS: Trump steamrolls in White County
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump captured 45 percent of the White County vote in the Presidential Primary for Republican candidates held Tuesday, March 1.
Ted Cruz placed second in White County with 25 percent of the vote, while Marco Rubio picked up almost 18 percent.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton gained the victory in White County with 52.4 percent of the vote, to Bernie Sanders’ 46.3 percent.
In all, a total of 54.2 percent of registered voters, or 6,956 voters, cast ballots in White County, about 10 percent higher than predicted, Elections Superintendent Garrison Baker said Tuesday night at the White County Courthouse.
Most votes in White County were cast in the Republican Presidential Primary – 86 percent of the total votes. Only 14 percent of the voters chose to vote in the Democratic Presidential Primary.
