Annie Mae "Nana Mae" Thomas
Annie Mae "Nana Mae" Thomas of Demorest passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017. She was 85.
Born Dec. 1, 1931, on Blue Creek in Cleveland, she was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Katie Elmira Adams Thomas. Ms. Thomas was a caretaker and collector of friends, who enjoyed cooking, traveling, and quilting. She was a member of Return Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hughes, Henry, Andrew, and Ed Thomas; sisters, Mary Lou Nicholson, Edith Thomas, and Doris Adams; and son-in-law, Michael Earnest Huff.
Ms. Thomas is survived by her sister, Irene Hall of Demorest; sister-in-law, Louise Palmer Thomas of Demorest; daughter, Theresa Lynn Huff; granddaughter and spouse, Heather Huff Stewart and William Stewart; great-grandchildren, Charity Elizabeth Cloud and Grace Gabriella Stewart; nephews, J.W., Thane (Brenda), Bruce(Ann), Jerry (Gail), Dale, and Glen (Charlene); nieces, Joyce (Alan) Nix, Gwen (Alan) McDonald, Brenda(Randy) Smith, Beth (Danny) Pitts, Lesa (Ted) Reeves, and Marvelann Soldani; many great-nieces and nephews; dear friends, Lucilla Gibson, Elaine, Ryan, Dawn and Dusty, and all of the Habersham Home West ladies who took care of her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in the McGahee Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating. Interment followed in Hillside Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, Rev. Franklin Graham Project, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
