Edwin "Ed" Lee Cook
Edwin "Ed" Lee Cook, age 81, of Dahlonega, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.
Mr. Cook was born on March 24, 1934, in Memphis, Texas, to the late Robert and Edna Cook. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School class. Mr. Cook worked for Lockheed Martin and was a former warehouse manager and driver for Pepsi-Cola. Ed loved working at the R-Ranch in Dahlonega and loved to travel to Amelia Island, where he enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved the North Georgia mountains. After retirement, Ed worked for the Lumpkin County Transit.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gayle Cook, Dahlonega, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Erin Cook, Dahlonega, Georgia; daughter, Rebecca Cook, Dahlonega, Georgia; grandchildren, Justin Cook, Hunter Cook, and Hayden Cook.
The family received friends Saturday prior to the funeral service.
Memorial services were Saturday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bucky Erwin and the Rev. Dennis Turner officiated.
