Robert Louis "Bob" Carder
Mr. Robert Louis "Bob" Carder, 84, of Dahlonega, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.
Mr. Carder was born June 15, 1934, in Lithonia, but lived most of his life in Lumpkin County. He was the son of the late Lola Weaver Carder and the Rev. Robert Carder. Mr. Carder was a graduate of Lithonia High School, Marsh Business College, Middle Georgia College and Woodrow Wilson College of Law. Due to chronic health problems, Bob was unable to pursue his dreams of a career in law.
Mr. Carder was retired from the credit and accounting department of Atlanta Gas Light Company. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1962. Mr. Carder was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He was a member of Sigma Delta Kappa law fraternity, and a member of the Strings ‘N Things Band of Dahlonega for several years.
Mr. Carder is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine Gilreath Carder, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland. The Rev. Jason Fuller, the Rev. Michael Youngblood, and Dr. Robert Klassen will officiate. Interment will be in Dahlonega Memorial Park, with the Rev. Tim Hicks officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at the funeral home.
