William Clyde Adams

William Clyde Adams of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017. He was 94.

Mr. Adams was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Walker County, to the late William Wesley Adams and Sarah Frances Moore Adams. Clyde worked for Painter Electric as an electrician and helper to the superintendent for 26 years. He retired from Painter Electric on disability, and was a retired member of the local 613 IBEW.

Clyde married Evva Dockery Kolke in March of 1968. In 1984, they moved from Douglas County to White County, where Clyde was very active in the community. He was the House Committee Chairman for six years, and Bingo Chairman for nine years with American Legion Post 16 in Cleveland. Clyde also served as a past president of Charles Smithgall Humane Society.

Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in the medical corps during World War II. Clyde was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 486 F&AM in Atlanta.

Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Evva Adams; daughter, Vicki Adams Hindsman; sons, Butch Adams, and Ricky Adams; stepson, Earl Kolke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willard Varnell Adams (Mildred), Harold Cordell Adams (Mildred), and Wesley Moore Adams (Opal).

Our daddy would like to be remembered as a gentleman, farmer, gardener, and a friend to animals.

Survivors include his son, Steve Adams of Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Adams Wilson and Ronnie Wilson of Atlanta, and Sally Adams Buckner and Ashley Buckner of Douglasville; stepson and daughter-in-law, Scott and Margaret Kolke of Tallahassee; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Fortner and the Rev. Ashley Buckner will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rogers Family Cemetery in Clermont.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
