White County’s seven-day moving average of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose slightly over the past week.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s March 30 status report showed an average of three daily cases as of March 30, up from 1.7 on March 23. Recently figures include 1.4 on March 16 and 0.7 on March 9.

For the month, there had been 52 confirmed cases reported through March 30, a notable drop from 187 in February, 656 in January and 692 in December.

Of 2,905 confirmed cases reported to DPH as of March 29, the White County Emergency Management Agency considered 2,773 of the cases to be recoveries. The agency’s update considers a case to be a recovery 21 days after the case report is provided to the county.

State Public Health lists 64 local deaths attributed to COVID-19.

The White County School System’s weekly status report released March 31 said there were currently no students who had reported positive for COVID-19 or were quarantined for possible exposure. There was one report of a staff member currently with a positive COVID-19 test or no reports of staff members quarantined for possible exposure.

As of March 25, all Georgians age 16 and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
