White County High School officials announced Friday morning that Stephen Stuart has been named the interim head coach for the Warriors' basketball program for the 2023-24 season. The coaching position came open last when Robbie Bailey stepped down to pursue opportunities outside the education field.
Due to the timing of Bailey's departure, WCHS made the decision to name an interim coach for the upcoming season and then re-evaluate the coaching situation at the end of the season.
Stuart worked in the White County for three years after graduating from Truett McConnell University where he was a member of the men's basketball team. During his tenure with the school, Stuart served as the head coach of the eighth grade girls team and was the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant for two years in the Warriors' program. Stuart left the school last year to take the athletic director's job at Cathedral Academy in Charleston, S.C. He returned to the school system this summer, accepting a special education teaching as well as the JV boy's and varsity assistant roles on Bailey's staff.
