Last week, White County Firefighters Casey Creel and Matt Merritt responded to a lift assist of an elderly patient. What was expected to be routine quickly changed when the two noticed stroke-like symptoms in the individual. They immediately called for a Med Unit, and the patient was transported to an area hospital where a major blockage in the brain was discovered. The hospital reached out to thank the two firefighters. Because of their quick detection and response the individual is expected to make a full recovery. White County Office of Public Safety Director David Murphy states, “Today we recognized these two individuals because of their exemplary response to this call,” said White County Public Safety Director Davie Murphy. “Their proficiency and concern for the welfare of our constituents is admirable.” From left, Chief Mike Lefevre, Matt Merritt, Casey Creel and David Murphy.
