Main Street/Hwy. 75 in Helen was shut down due to a truck pulling down power lines and a power pole on Tuesday, May 25.

According to the City of Helen, a transfer truck hit the powerlines along Main Street/Hwy. 75 and Alpenrosen Strasse. The impact of this also pulled down the lines to the water booster pump, which has resulted in customers on Alpenrosen Strasse, Waldheim Strasse, Dandy Lane and Ber Weg  without water. The customers are expected to be without water for several hours.

"The road must be made safe first before work can begin on the pump station. Workers will get the pump running again as soon as possible. This could be later this evening or tonight. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but safety is the utmost concern," the city said in a community notice.

The power company is working on replacing the power pole and fixing the lines, along with the booster pump. The road is closed down while the repairs are underway.
