Ridge Road repair work continues

Repairs to Ridge Road in Helen has been delayed slightly due to recent rain.

Helen City Manager Jerry Elkins said that they hope to get the bank stabilized within the next 10 days, as long as the weather cooperates. Following that, a curb will be installed and the street repaved. Elkins estimated the work will be finished within two to three weeks.

The road, which runs from Ga. 75 Alternate to Escowee Drive, was damaged during storms in March. A portion of it was originally closed due to the road washing out on top of a hill near Escowee Drive. One lane of the road was reopened in May while awaiting repairs.
