By Carly Henderson and Denise Etheridge

The June 16 Primary Runoff votes are in and county election officials confirmed that voter turnout was strong during both advanced in-person voting and on Election Day.

Several races in Georgia triggered runoffs when no candidate in those primary races received more than 50% of the vote.

Here in White County, Jordan Fincher edged out Linda Erbele for the District 4 seat on the Board of Education. Fincher had a total of 2,489 votes, Erbele received 2,029 votes.

In the White County runoff for State Senate District 51, Will Wade received 1,741 total votes to Philip Milam’s 529. District-wide, Wade garnered 18,260 votes to Milam’s 11,579.

The White County Elections & Registration office reported that a total of 4,949 ballots were cast in the local runoff election, with 2,644 being cast Tuesday, Election Day, and 2,183 cast during advance in-person voting. A total of 122 absentee by mail ballots were received. Election results are considered unofficial and incomplete until certified.
