The Enotah Judicial Circuit is taking additional precautions for those visiting the White County courthouse in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a new order signed by Chief Judge Raymond George, anyone entering the courthouse must wear a mask or face covering at all times when inside the courthouse. People entering the courthouse will have their temperature taken, screened for a cough and recent exposure to COVID-19. If a person has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or more, they will not be allowed to enter the courthouse.
While visiting the courthouse, people must remain at least six feet away from other people at all times. Visitors to the courthouse are encourages to wash their hands frequently while at the courthouse.
In regards to the courtroom, spaces are marked for social distancing and people must sit in the marked space. If the courtroom is full, people must follow directions of the court staff for alternative seating. Because of limited seating, people with business at the courthouse are asked to not bring non-essential people with them to court. Those with a case on the docket will be given priority seating in the active courtroom. A face mask or face covering must be worn at all times while in the courtroom, unless directed by a judicial officer.
