Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in White County rose over the past week.

The county’s seven-day moving average of confirmed COVID-19 cases has remained down since hitting a low point a few weeks ago.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s April 27 status report showed the average at 2.3 daily cases at that time, up some from 1 on April 20. Recent figures include 0.9 on April 13, and 1.6 on April 6

For the month, there had been 40 confirmed cases reported through April 27. There were 52 confirmed cases reported during March, a notable drop from 187 in February, 656 in January and 692 in December.

DPH lists 2,967 total confirmed cases during the pandemic and 67 local deaths attributed to COVID-19.

An April 27 report from the Georgia Department of Public Health showed 11,462 vaccines had been administered in White County.

The distribution report showed 6,180 residents had received at least one dose – about 21% of the population, with 5,493 residents considered fully vaccinated – about 19% of the population.

The White County Health Department will move its daily vaccinations back to its office at 1331 Helen Highway in Cleveland as of May 3. At that time, vaccinations will be available only on Tuesdays at the Health Department, and walk-ins will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinic will close for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
