The White County Farmers Market will kick off this Saturday, June 27.

The market will be held each Saturday in Freedom Park in downtown Cleveland from approximately 7 a.m. to noon, or until sold out, said Charlie Thomas, who is helping organize the market.

Vendors at the farmers market can vary, Thomas said, and he hopes to have 10 to 12 vendors. He added that he expects there to be the same vendors as last year. Some of the items sold last year included homemade quilts, honey, a variety of vegetables, soaps, herbs, bread and more. To keep with social distancing, the vendors will be spread out.

White County Extension Coordinator Nathan Eason said that they want this market to be a local one that features local goods.

“It’s always welcome for anybody doing local goods,” Eason said. “They are invited to come. We ask that they have proper licensing from Department of Agriculture.”

If someone is interested in being a vendor, they can contact Eason at 706-865-2832 in regards to filling out the application. Eason said people can call the Extension Office with any questions about the market.

One thing that is different this year with the market is the cost to be a vendor

“This year we’re going to waive the fee to sell to encourage more vendors,” Thomas said.

The market will continue each Saturday until Agrifest on Saturday, Sept. 26, Thomas said.
