White County Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with White County Fire Services, City of Cleveland, and City of Helen Fire Departments encourages residents not to burn on Saturday, Jan. 29.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Jan. 28 at 4:04 a.m. until Jan. 29 at 7:00 p.m. by the National Weather Service in Peachtree City for low relative humidity and high wind speeds, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening.

Weather conditions will exist through the day on Saturday that will increase the risk for wildfires.  White County is a community vulnerable to wildfires, and with the fire weather watch in effect for tomorrow, no burning will be allowed.

Red Flag Warning issued Jan. 28 at 2:48 p.m. until Jan. 29 at 7:00 p.m. by NWS Peachtree City. Northwest winds are expected at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Due to low humidity and high winds in addition to the dry fuels, any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

This watch includes the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests.

A Fire Weather Watch means that there is high potential for the development of critical fire weather conditions in 12 to 96 hours. White County Emergency Management Agency requests no outdoor burning during this period. Please help officials to keep you and your neighbors safe.
