White County School System issued the following press release on their website on Wednesday, June 24, in regards to the plan for schools to start back in the fall.

"I want to thank you for your patience, support and flexibility over the past few months as we have navigated through these pandemic times.  As we look towards the upcoming school year, we believe that it is essential that we get our students  back in our schools and we want to do this in the safest way possible.

As of today, June 24, 2020, the White County School System is planning to return to in-school instruction on Aug. 7, 2020.  As guidance is constantly changing, White County School System is being mindful as we finalize what the new normal of in-school instruction will look like. Using guidance from the Georgia Department of Education, the CDC, as well as state and local health officials, our administrators and school leaders are actively engaged in working to open our schools safely and efficiently.  Next week, June 29-July 3, our school offices will be closed. Beginning the week of July 6, 2020, we will begin to release detailed information regarding our Reopening Plan.  While our current plans encourage face-to-face instruction, a virtual option will also be available.

Please know that the White County School System is committed to serving our students, staff and community.  We are working tirelessly to ensure that your children receive the best education in the safest environment possible.  We are very excited about starting the 2020-2021 school year."
