A call will go out using the emergency notification system beginning Monday, May 17, in regards to the coronavirus vaccine.

According to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy, this will happen in partnership with the White County Health Department and White County Emergency Management. The message will say: “COVID 19 VACCINE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, FOR EVERYONE OVER THE AGE OF 12 YEARS OLD.  APPOINTMENTS NOT REQUIRED.  CALL 706-219-7891 FOR MORE INFORMATION.”

A call center, staffed by CERT program members, has been established within the Emergency Operations Center to answer these calls, Murphy said.

"These members will have bullet points of information and request if the person or family has any idea of when they may come to the health department," Murphy said.

The call center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Fridays. Any after hours calls will be sent to the EMA and will be followed-up on during the next business day.

These calls will go out in this order and time frame:

  • East Central White Co: May 17 at  6:30 p.m.
  • NW White Co: May 17 at 7:45 p.m.
  • Sautee Area: May 18 at 6:30 p.m.
  • SE White Co: May 18 at 7:45 p.m.
