The annual Empty Bowls lunch will be 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, March 20 at the Sautee Nacoochee Center’s Community Hall.

The event benefits the White County Food Pantry.

Diners donate the amount they choose, select a bowl and enjoy a soup lunch.

Local potters donate the bowls and local eateries donate the soups and cornbread, allowing the total proceeds to be donated to the food pantry.

Soup will be provided by Bigg Daddy’s, Clyde’s Table and Tavern, Elohee Retreat Center, Harvest Habersham, Jumpin’ Goat Coffee, Market at Old Sautee Store, Mully’s, Nora Mills, North Georgia Barbecue, Rib Country and Sheilah’s Village Market.

Donations may be made in cash or in checks made out to “White County Food Pantry.”

Last year, more than $4,200 was raised.

The local food pantry buys food at a reduced rate from the regional food bank in Clayton.

Those attending Empty Bowls are asked to consider donating any other items needed by the food pantry, including soap, deodorant, dish soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
