A Sasquatch figure that gained added notoriety following a wreck on the Cleveland square is being auctioned for a charitable cause.
Last November, a police chase ended with a Jeep crashing into The Rustic Rooster on the Cleveland square. From that incident, an unlikely hero was born – Daryl, the Bigfoot. Some credited Daryl with saving the store from further damage.
Owner Marianne Quigg painted on some bandages on towering, two-dimensional Daryl, then invited the public to sign his “cast.”
Now, Daryl is up for bid to help a local organization.
Rick Sammons of Bullseye Auctions and Appraisal heard that Quigg was wanting to auction Daryl and offered to list Daryl on the Bullseye website at no charge. The auction will run until noon on Friday, Feb.11. Money raised in the auction will be donated to the Jericho House, a men’s recovery home.
When Daryl leaves for a new home his other brother – also named Daryl – will come to watch over The Rustic Rooster.
