The White County Ministerial Fellowship held a gathering in Freedom Park on May 5 in honor of National Day of Prayer. Local pastors from multiple churches gathered to offer prayers for members of the community and the nation.
“It’s not to put one church in front, it’s all our churches joining together,” said Jeff Groves, Associate Pastor of The Bridge Church. “There are people throughout the nation in various locations praying. The unity of it all, praying to God together, is what makes a difference. There’s a power in unity when we all pray together on the same day for the same thing.”
The festivities opened with remakes from Groves and a performance of “Great are You Lord” from Andy Vandiver.
Pastor Patrick Ballington of The Bridge then spoke the prayer of praise and the prayer of Thanksgiving. Ballington spoke about how all of the people participating were more unified by the power of Christ and gave thanks to our forefathers that brought their love for God to America.
Pastor Micheal Wilkes of Center Baptist Church delivered a prayer of repentance, and thanked God for his forgiveness despite our individual failings and struggles.
Pastor Burnetta Armour of First Presbyterian Church gave the prayer of petition. She for the officials of our city, county, state and nation to have the wisdom and guidance to make the important decisions that make change in our lives.
The final prayer was given by Pastor Marc Turner of the Cleveland Worship Center. Turner gave the prayer of blessing and blessed all the members of the community and their well being.
“I love it,” said Cleveland resident Beth Bourgeois following the service. “It’s a blessing to be out with everyone worshiping.”
“It was good,” added Roy Clay of Cleveland. “It showed a lot of what White County things of themselves.”
