Firefighters responded to a report of smoke at McDonald's in Cleveland earlier this evening. Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said it appears that there was a malfunction with a heat and air unit on the roof.

“(There was some) minor fire down in some of the ductwork, so they’re tearing into it now by putting it out with a water can extinguisher so it will do as little damage as possible,” he said.

Employees called 911 after the building started filling up with smoke from the unit. Everybody was able to evacuate the location and Pruitt said a service man was coming to the scene, so it will isolated to that location and the restaurant can be cleaned up and reopened.
