A Cleveland man has been arrested following a standoff that started on April 20 and continued into April 21.

Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker said officers responded to a 911 call on White Street in regards to a physical assault. Arriving officers met a female victim who had been injured in an alleged domestic dispute and was taken for medical treatment. The suspect, who was known to the victim, was identified as Nicholas Ryan Stills, 26, according to police.

"During the incident, Stills was located inside a nearby apartment and made threats of violence and the use of weapons towards officers on the scene and refused to cooperate," Shoemaker said in a statement. "Considering the dangerous potential for the incident the White County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was requested. Negotiations were attempted but were unsuccessful. Stills was later arrested inside the apartment without further incident by the White County Sheriff's Office SWAT team."

Stills has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault (FVA), false imprisonment, terroristic threats and acts, two counts of willful obstruction on law enforcement officer(s), disorderly conduct, public indecency, battery - family violence, and probation violation, according to his arrest report.

"The Cleveland Police Department and the White County Sheriff' s Office coordinated their efforts during the incident which led to a peaceful resolution," Shoemaker said.

Shoemaker said the case remains under investigation.
