Another candidate has announced plans to run for White County probate judge.

Randall Townley says he is seeking the office because he wants serve.

“That’s what brings me here – my service to the people and the way I’ve worked in the communities,” Townley said. “I feel like this same position here will be, you’ve got to work with people on that, and that’s what I feel like my attributes are, how I can work with the citizens of White County in this position.”

Townley points to his experience, including time working in law enforcement and with schools, would help him with the job. He believes the main factor that makes him stand out from others is that he’s a “people person.”

“… I think my strongest thing that I have is because I’ve dealt with people in a lot of situations,” he said. “When you deal with their money and their children, you’ve dealt with some real sensitive issues. I understand the law is a lot different, too. You may have to deal with the law and with money. But still, that’s a lot different on that part.”

Townley attended high school in Dawson County, then attended Gainesville College, Atlanta Baptist College (now Mercer University), Georgia State University and Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University). He has degrees in health and physical education and public school administration.

Throughout his career, Townley has worked in a variety of fields, including education, fire departments, EMS ambulance service, highway safety and a code enforcement officer. At one point, Townley said he worked at the health department where his worked involved child safety seats. Townley and his wife moved to White County in 2004.
