Four people were injured following a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday, Oct. 7 on U.S. 129 near Marvin Miles Road around 6 p.m.

According to Georgia State Patrol Post 6, a 2003 Black Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Anthony Parris Jr, Cleveland, was heading northbound in the left lane, while a 2019 Silver Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Candice Bennet Nanney, 38, of Clermont was heading southbound. The Silverado crossed the centerline and went north in the southbound lane before hitting the front of the Tahoe. The Silverado came to a stop in the road facing east, while the Tahoe came to a stop in the road facing west.

GSP stated it is suspected that Paris was fatigued or asleep at the time of the incident, and DUI is not a factor.

A 14-year-old, who was in the front passenger seat of the Tahoe, was taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta with serious injuries to the lower part of her body. Nanney and a 2-year-old, who was in the backseat of the Tahoe, were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with minor or non-life threatening injuries. Parris was also transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with non-life threatening or serious injury, GSP said.

Parris has been charged with failure to maintain lane, GSP said.
