Staff report
A fatal crash closed down State Route 11 (Highway 129 North) for nearly three hours on Tuesday.
One person was killed and three others were injured in the three-vehicle crash near Albert Reid Road just before 1 p.m. on Sept. 2.
Julia Robinson, 41, of Gainesville was driving a 2017 Kia Forte south on State Route 11, according to investigators with the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Brian Wallace, 51, of Clermont was the front seat passenger.
Robinson was allegedly driving distracted when she crossed the centerline and entered the northbound traffic lane, stated a GSP news release. Robinson then struck head-on a northbound 2020 Toyota Corolla, driven by Malani Zavala, 26, of Cleveland. A 2013 Lexus ES, driven by Marilyn Frye, 69, of
Cleveland was traveling northbound behind the Corolla, and struck it in the rear after the Corolla and the Forte collided.
Wallace was pronounced dead on scene despite extensive life-saving efforts. Robinson, Zavala and Frye were taken by White County EMS to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are currently pending.
Along with the GSP and White County EMS, the Cleveland Fire Department, White County Fire Services, and the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident.
