On Tuesday, May 10, at approximately 8:22 p.m., a deputy from the White County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a traffic stop that resulted in warrants being obtained for the driver of a Ford Explorer.
The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle around Putnum Road and Garrison Drive, south of the City of Cleveland. The vehicle, which also had alleged equipment violations, fled the scene.
The deputy pursued the vehicle but lost contact with the vehicle around State Highway 254 and Duncan Bridge Road. The was notified later that the vehicle was involved in a pursuit by the Habersham Sheriff’s Office and was involved in a motor vehicle accident, occurring in Habersham County. The driver was taken into custody and charges were being filed by Habersham County authorities.
The driver identified as Eulon Carter Burns, 30, of Gainesville, who faces charges in Habersham County as well as White County.
The charges in White County include fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain lane, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
No injuries were reported in the White County incident.
