The start of White County High School's graduation May 28 has been delayed an hour due to impending inclement weather, according to a Friday afternoon announcement.

The event will now begin at 9 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 8 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 7 p.m. and graduates will report to the main gym at 7:30 p.m. If graduation cannot be held on Friday, the ceremony will be moved to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, at Warrior Stadium.

Graduation will also be livestreamed WTVN (www.whiteco.tv) regardless of weather.

The WCHS parking lot will be reserved for graduating seniors, handicapped accessible parking, law enforcement, media and WCHS school staff.

Parking will be available for everyone else at Tesnatee Gap Elementary School and the White County soccer complex. Guests are encouraged to carpool to the event. There will be school buses that will shuttle guests from the parking area to the stadium entrance then back after the graduation. The White County Sheriff’s Office will monitor the parking lot before, during and after graduation.

Vehicles with a valid, state-issued handicap tag or permit that is displayed will be able to park in the first two rows at WCHS.

Handicap seating, along with wheelchair accessible seating, will be available at the top center of the stadium.

Those attending the event are encouraged to use Tesnatee Gap Valley Road to get to the parking area instead of U.S. 129.

There are private property owners near the high school who may provide parking for a fee. There will be no shuttle services from private lots.
