Will you help stuff the bus?
The community is invited to donate school supplies for White County students from July 23 to Aug. 3, when a school bus will be parked in front of Walmart in Cleveland. This is the third year for the event, said Jack Haas, event organizer and bus driver for White County School System.
He said people can go to the store to buy school supplies and drop them off in bins that will be stationed at the bus.
“We try and have somebody there. That’s not always possible, but at least two or three times someone will be there, if nothing else to empty it out and put it in the school bus,” Haas said.
If someone would like to make a monetary donation when a person is there, they can make a check out to White County Bus Drivers or they can give a cash donation.
“We’ll take those funds, and we’ll go in and shop for them and buy the school supplies,” Haas said.
Once the drive is over, Haas said the school supplies would be taken back to the school system administration building, where they will be sorted and given to the schools.
“There’s a lot of need out there, and I didn’t even realize the need until I started driving a bus,” he said.
