The White County Warriors posted a historic win last Friday night, knocking Class AAA No. 8 Hart County 50-47 in Hartwell. The win was the football program's first road win over a ranked opponent since 1983, and only the 11th win over a ranked team in school history. The win earned the Warriors the Georgia High School Football Daily's Statewide Team of the Week honors. The team was awarded a plaque during a ceremony Wednesday by GHFSD marketing director Ted Langford and Sam Haney of World Electric Supply, which sponsors the weekly award along with Siemans. “Each week we try to decide which team had the best win in the state,” Langford told the players during the ceremony. “There's a lot of factors that go into that decision. You beat Hart County, the No. 8 team in the state, and it was on the road. It was a great game and it was a historical win for the school. You earned this award.”
