The White County Food Processing Center will be open from June 30 through Aug. 4 on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. After Aug. 4, it will only be open on Thursdays until Sept. 15 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The cannery is located at 283 Old Blairsville Road in Cleveland.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following guidelines are in place:
• Customers are asked to not enter the facility if they are exhibiting symptoms or have knowingly been exposed to the Covid-19 virus.
• Customers are encouraged to wear masks while inside the facility.
• The agriculture teachers will sanitize all workspaces and equipment before customers arrive, between customers, and again at the end of the day.
• With four work stations available inside the FC Food Processing Center, we will only be allowing 4 groups in to process at a time (no more than 2 people per group).
• If four groups are already present when you arrive, you will have the choice of waiting or signing up for a later time slot. Ag teachers will utilize text messages to alert customers when they can enter the facility if necessary.
• Customers are encouraged to do as much prep work as possible prior to coming to the facility in order to minimize time and exposure in the facility.
• Customers who utilize glass jars for food preservation could be encouraged to fill these at home and bring to the facility for the thermal processing.
