A Cleveland man has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter following the death of a Mableton resident.

According to a press statement from White County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Clay Hammond, on June 27 at 4:42 a.m. deputies responded to 109 Becky Drive, where they found Bruce Jeffery Reaves, 48, of Mableton, under a car at that address. Reaves was taken by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but did not survive his injuries.

“Investigators found evidence that led them to believe Reaves had been cutting on the vehicle’s exhaust when the car fell,” Hammond said in the statement.

White County Sheriff Rick Kelley added that the men did not have permission to be taking the exhaust off the vehicle.

It was also determined that Jeremy Black, 41, of Cleveland, was present the morning of the incident, according to Hammond. Black was indicted by the White County Grand Jury on charges of involuntary manslaughter, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, criminal trespass, and criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor.

Black was taken into custody on July 14, and no bond has been set as of the morning of July 20, according to online records.
