Stabbing suspect crashes in downtown after vehicle pursuit over county lines

An alleged stabbing in southern White County led to a vehicle pursuit across county lines that totaled a patrol car and ended with a crash on Cleveland’s downtown square. The White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing at an Arthur Seabolt Road home around 6 p.m. Nov. 24.

Helen city ordinances prohibit the carrying of open containers of alcoholic beverages on public properties – but such instances appear to be happening more often than officials would like to see. Discussion at the Nov. 16 city commission meeting turned to what could be done to address the concern.
