One person was seriously injured and three more received non-life threatening injuries in a two-vehicle wreck on Friday, Sept. 3.

According to Georgia State Patrol, Ricky Carroll Jr., 59, of Gainesville, was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger north on Hwy. 17 and was going around a curve when he failed to maintain the lane. The Charger crossed the centerline and struck a 2019 Ford Superduty Truck head-on. The Ford was being driven by Mark Ryan Martin, 59, of Cleveland, who was heading south around the curve.

Carroll was transported for a serious injury, while his passenger, Donnie Lamar Carroll, 61, of Toccoa, was transported for non-life threatening injuries, GSP said. Martin and his passenger, Tonia Martin, 47, of Cleveland, were also transported for non-life threatening injuries. All were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Carroll has been charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane, according to GSP.

“Due to his injuries he was admitted to the hospital and arrest warrants will be sought from the White County Magistrate Judge at a later date,” GSP said.
