Two bodies were found at Mt. Yonah Campground on Monday, July 29, around 3:45 p.m.

Authorities received a call to conduct the welfare check on an “older couple” that lived in a camper, because they had not been seen for several days, according to White County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Rick Kelley. He said deputies found the two dead inside the camper on Fleetwood Road.

“The bodies had been deceased for several days,” Kelley said in a written statement.

The WCSO requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime scene unit to process the scene, Kelley said. The bodies were sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. The WCSO is following up on the case, though Kelley said no foul play is suspected at this time, pending the autopsy result.

Kelley said the identities of the two found have not been released while awaiting notification of next of kin.
