A White County man was found dead by the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks Friday morning in Mt. Airy.

The Mount Airy Police Department, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Habersham County Emergency Services were called to respond to the area of Dicks Hill Parkway and Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks for a possible deceased person, according to a release. The call to the Habersham County 911 center was made by an employee of Norfolk Southern who was on a train passing by the location.

Once responding agencies arrived, they located a male victim, in his early to mid-30’s, laying to the side of the railroad tracks face down with multiple injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Unit and the Habersham County Coroner’s Office were called to assist in the investigation. Norfolk Southern Police were contacted to assist in halting train traffic so that items of possible evidentiary value could be collected, and the scene preserved through photographic documentation.

The body of Andrew Dylan Claborn, 33 of Cleveland was transported to the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. The investigation remains open and active but Mt. Airy Police Chief Tim Jarrell said foul play was not immediately suspected.
