Western Kentucky sophomore golfer Catie Craig, a White County High School graduate, recently won the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational and was named Conference USA Golfer of the Week.
Craig picked up her first collegiate win at the Lake Oconee Invitational, firing a career-best, 5-under 67 in the final round to cap off the win.
"I'm incredibly proud of what Catie accomplished today," said head coach Adam Gary following the tournament. "To go out and do what she did, rising nine spots in the last round and winning the whole thing means a lot to our program and a lot to her individually. I'm so glad she was able to do it in her home state with the support of her family and teammates."
Craig's 67 was the lowest round of any golfer in the field all week long and it ties for fourth-best round by any Lady Hilltopper in program history.
Craig defeated numerous top 250 golfers, and led the team to a third-place finish in the team standings, including besting a team in front of the Lady Hilltoppers in the GolfStat Top 100.
After opening the tournament with rounds of 78 and 71, Craig bogeyed the first hole in the final round, but then never looked back as she logged six birdies in total, including the final three holes of the round.
Craig climbed up nine spots on the final day to clench the medalist honors and win by two strokes. Craigh shot even-par 216 during the 54-hole event.
