Lady Warriors split region games

The White County High School softball team ran into one of the top pitchers in Region 6-AAA on Tuesday during a road matchup with the Pickens Dragons.

Stewart proved to be unhittable in the game, tossing a perfect game in a 6-0 win  for the Dragons as they improved to 3-2 in region play. The loss leaves the Lady Warriors with a 1-2 mark in region play heading into today's home game against Lumpkin County. The Lady Indians sit atop the region standings as they are undefeated at 4-0 through the first two weeks of the region schedule. North Hall is  second at 3-1, followed by Dawson County at 2-1 and Pickens at 3-2. The Lady Warriors are currrently fifth in league play at 1-2.

Stewart struck out 13 in the complete game performance, while the Dragons scored all of their runs in the first five innings of the game. Maddie Kate Hall worked a complete game in the circle for the Lady Warriors, giving up three earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three and walking a pair.

Last week, the Lady Warriors notched their first region win of the season with a 14-2 win over Chestatee in a four inning run rule game.

After Chestatee took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning, the Lady Warriors scored five runs to take the lead for good and then finished things off in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs to get the mercy rule win.

Hall worked all four innings, allowing a pair of runs on three hits and racked up a season-high nine strikeouts.

The Lady Warriors had 11 hits in the win, with Hall, Cierra Bailey and Madi Brooks all finishing with a pair of hits. Hall drove in two runs and scored once, Bailey had a RBI and scored a run, and Brooks scored two runs.

Ila Duff had a hit, walked twice, scored two runs and drove in a run, while Brianna Woodring had  hit, scored two runs and walked twice. Addy Harris had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run, Logan Fain had a hit and scored a run, Marley Milford had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run, and Abby Watkins scored a pair of runs.
