The White County volleyball team split a pair non-area matches last week during a home tri-match in Cleveland.
The Lady Warriors scored a 2-0 straight set win over McDonough, but dropped a 2-0 decision to Cherokee Bluff in a matchup of two of the top teams in Class AAA.
WCHS is back on the court this afternoon with a road match at Habersham Central, and then heads to Alabama for the tournament this weekend.
The Whtie County squad plays in an Area 6-AAA doubleheader in Dahlonega next Wednesday, taking on the Lady Indians and Dawson County.
Last week in Cleveland, the Lady Warriors squared off with Cherokee Bluff in the opening match of the three-team event. Cherokee Bluff is ranked No. 6 in the latest Class AAA state poll, while the Lady Warriors are next at No. 7.
The match between the two teams was tight throughout, but Bluff was able to pull away in both sets to take the win.
Bluff opened things with a 25-18 win in the opening set, and then clinched the match with a 25-19 win.
Kalynn Watkins had five kills, nine assists and nine digs in the match, with Caroline Tatum adding five kills and a dig. Aslyn Burkett had four kills, with Mya Palmer finishing with three blocks, a kill and a dig. Emma Barton had nine digs, six assists, a kill and an ace, and Addi Conner had two digs and an assist.
Kennedi Seabolt had a kill and a block, Bella Pilgrim had two digs and an assist, Daylee Barrett had an ace, and Bree Burkett, made her 2025 debut following a knee injury, and had two digs.
In the nightcap, the Lady Warriors didn't have much trouble with McDonough, wining 25-11 and 25-12 for a straight set win. WCHS had a big day in the service department with 19 aces.
Barrett had six kills, three digs and a pair of aces, Aslyn Burkett had three kills, six digs and two aces, and Watkins added 10 assists, three aces, two kills and five digs.
Barton had four assists, three digs and a pair of aces, while Pilgrim finished with a season-high eight aces and four digs. Palmer had three kills, an assist and a dig, Brielle Black had three kills, Conner had two aces, two assists and a dig, Tatum had two kills, and Sophia Butcher had an assist and a dig.
