The White County Board of Commissioners approved a new measure Thursday evening that closes tourist accommodations and requires nonresidents to leave such facilities by this weekend.
White County Public Safety issued the following service announcement Thursday afternoon, April 2:
The White County Board of Commissioners is holding an emergency called meeting today at 5 p.m. via teleconference.
With reports across the nation of some hospitals running short on protective medical masks, some in White County have taken on sewing homemade masks to provide backup.
In difficult times, communities often find ways to come together and support each other.

A week after declaring a local state of emergency, the Helen City Commission adopted new rules included closing lodging facilities and other businesses.
