Halloween is just around the corner and White County is full of events for children, adults and the whole family. There will be plenty of options to choose from, as well as multiple days where families and friends can get in on the spooky fun.
There will be a slate full of events on Saturday, Oct. 28 including:
ν The White County Agriscience Center is hosting a free trunk-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m. The center is located at 1983 U.S. 129, in Cleveland.
ν Smithgall Woods State Park is having a Halloween Hayride from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking passes are $5 and hayrides are $5 per person. Kids 12 and younger will be granted free admission. Dogs are allowed but must remain leased with a 6 foot lead and are under control of their owner. All proceeds go to the Friends Volunteer Group. The event is located at 61 Tsalaki Trail in Helen.
ν Smithgall Woods State Park will have a guided haunted hike from 5-7 p.m. The trail is an easy .5 miles. Learn about the lore and legends of the Appalachian Mountains and where these tales likely come from. Parking and admission are $5 each and reservations are required. Call the visitors center at 706-878-3087 to reserve a spot. The event is located at 61 Tsalaki Trail in Helen.
ν Scrappy Shak is hosting a free pumpkin painting party and kids Halloween costume contest at 1 p.m. Scrappy Shak is located at 2454 Ga. 17, Suite C in Sautee Nacoochee.
ν The Smithgall Humane Society is hosting a Halloween Ball from 6-10 p.m. at the Great Hall at Valhalla Resort in Helen. There will be a costume contest, cocktails, food and dancing. Tickets are $75 per person and the proceeds go to the shelter to help homeless dogs and cats. Volunteers will be donating their time, music, gift baskets and more for the cause. There will be a cash bar and a silent auction. Tickets are available by calling 706-878-2200 or by email reservations@valhallaresorthotel.com or by calling the Smithgall Humane Society at 706-725-0671.
ν Mt. Yonah Cruisers will have a Trunk of Treats at the Piedmont Bank, formerly Mountain Valley Bank from 1-4 p.m. All children are invited and costumes are encouraged. The bank is located at 136 N. Main St. in Cleveland.
ν The Episcopal Church of Resurrection will host a trunk-or-treat from 5-7 p.m. There will be games, a cupcake walk, basket raffles, horse rides and lots of candy. The church is located at 1755 Duncan Bridge Road in Sautee Nacoochee.
ν NoFo Brewery will have a Halloween party with live music and a costume contest. Dress up to get a $1 off of their beers. NoFo is located at 1939 Helen Highway in Cleveland.

ν Solid Rock Baptist Church is hosting a trunk-or-treat from 4:30-7:30 p.m. located at 7662 Highway 155 West in Cleveland. There will be food, fun and fellowship. For more information contact Shannon at 706-713-6426 or Jennifer at 706-809-3388.
ν JumpinGoat is hosting it’s annual Drools and Ghouls Doggie Howl-o-ween Costume Contest from 2-4 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per dog. There will be many prizes and raffles at the event and proceeds go to benefit the Smithgall Humane Society and Adoption Center. JumpinGoat is located at 2404 Helen Highway in Cleveland.
ν Crafty Mountain Candle and Lucky Lyric Boutique are hosting a howl-o-ween costume contest from 1-3 p.m. The event has free admission. Grab your canine companion, dress them up in their spook-tacular costumes and get ready to impress the esteemed panel of judges. There will be awards for most original, cutest and funniest costume. Each winner will receive a gift basket valued at $15. Crafty Candle is located at 2271 Ga. 17 in Sautee Nacoochee.
ν Mossy Creek United Methodist Church is hosting a trunk-or-treat from 5-6:30 p.m. There will be candy, treats, face painting and more. The church is located at 2230-2298 Post Road in Cleveland.

ν The Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center is hosting a trunk-or-treat and carnival from 5-7:30 p.m. It is a family-friendly event that includes candy, a cake walk, a haunted house, a costume contest and a hot dog and BBQ dinner. The center is located at 283 Ga. 255 in Sautee Nacoochee.
ν Truett McConnell University is hosting ‘Treats and Truett’ from 6-9 p.m. This free event for the whole family will include a cake walk, face painting, hayride, balloon artist, hot cocoa, popcorn, carnival style games, glow in the dark fun, creepy dorms and tons and tons of candy. The event is located at 196 Alumni Drive in Cleveland
ν Shops at the Sautee Junction are hosting a trick-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m. All shops at the Sautee Junction and surrounding businesses are participating including Victoria’s Cottage and Gifts, Butterfly Mornings and Wildflower Afternoons, VIP Travel and Wine Tours, Crafty Mountain Candle Company, Rezultz Fitness, Smithgall Resale Store, Sweetwater Coffee, Hooch River Trading and the Lavender Cottage and Garden. The event is located at 2269 Ga. 17 in Sautee Nacoochee.
