The annual Darrel Chaney Invitational Golf Tournament for the United Way of White County, now in its 21st year, took place on Tuesday, April 11. The tournament provides a substantial part of the budget for the United Way of White County with 95 cents of every dollar going directly to 18 different organizations. The tournament has raised a net total of $860,000 over the years. This year it is estimated to raise between $60,000-$70,000. It was created when Bill Sutton Jr. heard Darrel Chaney speak at his church and introduced himself. Together the two came up with the tournament in the hopes of providing services for the residents of White County.
