SOLfest 2025 celebrated 35 years of theatre at the Sautee Nacoochee Center last week (June 20-22), re-staging the first play ever produced there: Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
But in the hands of director Brent Glenn (who was in the first production of this play 35 years ago), this production was a singular thing. The SNC campus was transformed by artist Jeff Becker and his team into a magical forest and a kingdom. So the show sprawled across the campus. The costumes were stunning, the weather perfect, and every performance was sold out, and preceded by a talk at the African American Heritage Site, where Ann Nicely spoke on the history of Juneteenth.
By all accounts, it was one of the most colorful and creative live productions seen in White County, featuring a team of some 60 participants (actors, production team, volunteers, etc.). Lead producer Lisa Mount predicts the show will return again for SOLfest 2026.
