The weekend will be filled events to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, highlighted by two Memorial Day ceremonies Monday morning.
American Legion Roy Head Post 16 will host its ceremony at 9 a.m. in Freedom Park in downtown Cleveland.
The White County High School ROTC will present the colors, and the White County Honor Guard will present the 21 gun salute and perform Taps.
Boy Scouts will be present, and the Knights of Columbus plan to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
The ceremony will honor each of the branches of the military, and a chaplain will read the names of veterans who have passed since last Memorial Day.
At 10 a.m., the Northeast Georgia Veterans Society will sponsor a ceremony at Helen Veterans Park at 726 Brucken Strasse.
The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Col. Cal Riley, a Vietnam combat veteran.
His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
