Authorities responded to a call about residential fire on Peaceful Valley Drive on Thursday, Aug. 20.

According to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy, White County 911 received a call at approximately 10:10 p.m. about a possible fire at the residence. It was reported by the occupants that the house was full of smoke, and they believed a lightning strike might've caused the issue.

Firefighters with White County Fire Stations 4 and 5 responded to the city. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters with the City of Cleveland and the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade, Murphy said. Authorities found moderate smoke throughout the residence, and after their initial investigation, firefighters made their way into the basement. Once in there, they extinguished the fire and it did not spread into the upper levels of the home.

There were no injuries reported, Murphy said. The incident was turned over to investigations. Firefighters were on scene for about three hours.
