A Cleveland man has been charged in connection to a three-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Dahlonega man on Sunday, Sept. 29.

George Lee Watson, 92, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 7, on charges of failure to yield right of way (driver intending to turn left) and homicide by vehicle in 2nd degree. Larry James Robinson, 65, was fatally injured in the accident.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. on Ga. 75 Alternate at its intersection with John Head Road, according to a report from Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville. Watson was driving a 1994 Honda Accord south on Ga. 75 Alternate. A 2004 Suzuki SV 650 MC driven by Larry James Robinson, and a 1978 Yamaha RD 400 MC driven by Joshua Charles Robinson, 31, of Dahlonega, were heading north on Ga. 75 Alternate and were negotiating a curve to the left.

Watson was turning left onto John Head Road and failed to yield the right of way, the GSP reported. Watson and Larry Robinson hit head-on, while Joshua Robinson tried to avoid the crash and overturned his vehicle onto its right side.

Joshua Robinson was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with minor injuries. Watson was not injured.

Watson was released on $1,500 bond on Monday, Oct. 7, according to the White County Sheriff’s Office.
