No injuries were reported at a house fire Wednesday, Dec. 11, on Skitts Mountain Road.

White County firefighters, with automatic aid from the Cleveland Fire Department and the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade, responded to the report of a house fire around 10 p.m., said White County Public Safety Director David Murphy. Personnel discovered visible flames in the back of the 1,800 square foot home. The home was unoccupied at the time.

After firefighters extinguished the flames, they remained on scene to conduct salvage and overhaul. Murphy said that the fire investigator was called to the scene, and once the investigation was done, firefighters left the location around midnight.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, fire personnel responded to the same residence due to the fire rekindling, Murphy said. White County firefighters were once again assisted by Cleveland firerighter and the Lee Arrendale Fire Brigade extinguish the flare-up. Firefighters were on scene for about three hours.

“The fire investigator was called back to the scene, and he will continue his report for submission to the State Fire Marshal’s office,” Murphy said.
